water from the ocean. Why not New
Delhi?
There
is no water in Delhi. By 2015,
Delhites will be killing each other
for water. The Yamuna is nearly dry.
Underground water has nearly dried
up. Everyday huge buildings are
constructed demanding more water.
The water situation is desperate and
has been a crisis since 2005. More
than 2,000 people are coming and
settling down in Delhi every day.

BRING
WATER FROM THE OCEAN
The
answer is
DESALINATION PLANTS
in Delhi. There have to
be
large pumping stations
in Gujarat and the
saline water can be
piped to Delhi to a huge
desalination plant.
Politicians will tell
you that it cannot be
done. They will say that
Delhi is not a coastal
city. However, if they
can pipe crude oil from
Bombay High to Mathura
refinery then why can’t
they do it for water for
a lesser distance? If
they can build dams like
Sardar Sarovar then they
can also pipe water from
the ocean to
desalination plants in
Delhi. This way
everybody will benefit;
even the executives and
consultants from World
Bank.
The cost: Rs 5,000 crore

Our demands:
1) Two
desalination plants
pumping sea water into
Delhi
2)
Four lakes around Delhi
in Uttar Pradesh,
Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana with 4,000 cusecs
each
3) Absorbtion of sewage
water into swamplands
and grasslands in Delhi
such as the ridge which
is already present |
